Catering Services

We have created a new 2 weekly menu to follow alongside the timetables in order to give the students variety and the knowledge in order to decide days they want to make use of the facilities we offer. We offer the full range each day of food to all our students within our food hubs. In addition to this we have a variety of fruit juices, water and milkshakes too. Alongside this, we have our sweet treat items such as brownies, cookies and special daily cakes.

We offer ‘meal deals’ for both hot & cold food items which come with a drink & the option of fruit, cookie or yoghurt for £2.80. Our grab bags are a great way for students to order ahead a cold sandwich/wrap/pasta each day to grab at lunch and go enjoy without the need to queue.

I hope the new menu is enjoyed and helps our students to know what they have to look forward to at lunchtime each day.

Kind regards,

Miss A McNay

School Lunches

There are two options for students in Years 7 to 11:

Stay for school meals – there is a cashless payment system in place.

Bring a packed lunch to eat in school.

Pupils are not allowed to leave the premises at lunchtime unless arrangements are made for them, by parents, to go home to lunch with the permission of the Headteacher. If you wish to discuss this please telephone to make an appointment with the Headteacher.

Sixth Form students are allowed to make their own judgement about lunch arrangements.

Packed Lunches

The school has worked hard to produce a rich selection of healthier alternatives for sale in the dining room. We support that with vigorous promotion of healthy eating issues in lessons. You would expect us to encourage a healthy selection in packed lunches too. We do not allow students to bring crisps or other salted snacks, such as nuts etc to school. Please think about packing an extra piece of fruit, or enriching sandwich fillings. Crisps will be taken from students and disposed of. The reason for this is related to dehydration and its impact on youngsters’ ability to learn. We do not allow students to bring fizzy drinks school. Partly this is because of the additives they most often contain, partly it is because they are often the source of spray when opened, damaging belongings and clothing. Please be aware that glass containers should not be used for reasons of safety.

Cashless Cafeteria System

A biometric cashless system operates within the dining room. Pupils present their finger to readers located at till points and revalue units. Accounts are credited either online, by cheque or by cash via machines in the dining room and parents are responsible for ensuring their child’s account is kept in credit. The school has no facilities for loaning money.

Free School Meals

Parents are reminded that those children who are entitled to free school meals should make an application to: Cheshire West and Chester Council. Tel: 0300 123 7039 or email: enquiries@cheshirewestandchester.gov.uk Forms and further information is available from the CWAC website: www.cheshirewestandchester.gov.uk If you require assistance with your application please telephone school and ask for Miss Moore. Applications may be made at any time during the school year, but families should check that if their circumstances have not changed, their child remains on the free school meal list for September. It is also important for the free school meal team to be kept up-to-date of any changes in your personal circumstances.

Pupils entitled to a free school meal will have their entitlement credited to their account automatically on a daily basis.
